Summary:

TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN!!!, The Series was unexpectedly a good watch which was quite surprising for me. I’ve heard people talking about Gurren Lagaan for years and just didn’t give it a chance due to the artwork (yes the artwork isnt much but grows on you slowly) alone but that just shows artwork isn’t everything to give you a Great Anime to watch, another example of that Is One Piece. One Piece isn’t the prettiest but the style grows on you slowly but surely. Gurren Lagaan has a simple plotline and very easy to follow im a bit concerned about the simplicity of it, but i still did enjoy like I would a GOOD Gundam Series (Gundam Wing sucks….get over it heero yui fanboys) The story isnt one with alot of politics but more about the characters and how they rise for the occasion and was quite moving from the beginning straight down to the end. The Animation isn’t STELLAR stuff but it gets the job done and fits the story quite well so I don’t have any complaints about it (yeah it grew on me FAST! lol) . The OST suites the series as well as the animation style and I have a very big liking for the OP, that shiznet was catchy as hell (like most anime series that are made of EPIC fun).  All the characters in the series served a purpose and made the series something worthwhile to see; Simon the Digger is the main character of the series, at first he wasn’t likable due to his constant whining (Gainax Shinji effect possibly?) but I’m gonna give him a break because who the hell wants to fight “Beast men” like seriously?? but during the course of the series he grows on you slowly but surely but that’s only due to the introduction of his woman. Kamina is the main source of jokes throughout the earlier episodes and was the driving main plot for everyone to rise up against the Epic Douche known as the Spiral King, Kamina’s belief in Simon was touching and something I haven’t seen in a character (maybe I have but I can’t remember!lol) and it was good to see him in this series. Yoko is the female protagonist of the series and is the source of eye-candy for the series (walking around in a bikini top?? PUM PUM shorts!!! can snipe targets out from LONGGGG RANG what the hell can go wrong there?!!?!?! :P), Yoko’s another strong female character we’ve been seeing a lot of  these days (Feminism FTW) in female characters, she doesn’t bring anything new to the table but her interaction with the main characters is welcomed easily. Overall GURREN LAGANN!!!!! is a fun and great watch kind of disappointed in myself for missing it for so long but hey it was worth the watch and I can see myself watching it again. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!?!?!?

Overview:

Blassreiter! First off id like to say the series wasnt as CORNY as I thought it would be but rather interesting for the most of the series. The story will not suck in you in from the get go but it keeps you wanting to find out what’s really going to happen to the characters (especially Amanda) and thats because NO ONE is safe from the Blassreiter. The action scenes weren’t jaw dropping but definitely eye opening which left my surprised cause I dont really have much faith in CGI Action Scenes, but GONZO makes the best CGI animations for Anime Series so in truth I really shouldnt be that Surpised in all honesty. The story is simple and easy to follow so there’s no need to worry about being confused. The developments throughout the story were nicely done and left me satisfied with all characters to be honest. The animation was pretty consistent and is rather familiar but sadly I can’t remember where I remember the character style from. The music isn’t rememberable which is sad so overall this would probably the weakest thing about the series, and yeah we ALL need that special build up theme to keep us on the edge of our seat! Jacob Jobson the main protagonist was refreshing to see never met a character like him before but he has the usual loner type traits. Amanda Werner was made of pure Eye-Candy from the get go didn’t think she was important for the story but I was wrong she’s probably the only character that you can say had it easy throughout the entire story because everyone wanted to save her (maybe her Cleavage won over everyone? lol) but other than her assets she wasn’t  a bad character to see in action. Overall I liked most of the characters (loved Amanda) and the only characters I found rather annoying were the bestfriend duo GERD and HERMANN they were both noisy and annoying as hell but served their purpose well.I guess Blassreiter wasn’t a bad watch but I definitely enjoyed it more than I did other series people think are so good (Elfen Lied) but that’s a story for another day.

The story takes place in a futuristic domed city called Romdeau, the dome is built to protect its citizens from the toxic gas of the wasteland from the ecological disaster that took place Centuries ago. In this Utopia humans co-exist with androids that are known as Auto-Reivs, and are able to coexist due to the total management system. A series of murders start to take place throughout the utopia, and the murders aren’t being committed by humans but by the Auto-Reivs. The reason the Auto-Reivs start to commit murder is due being infected with the Cogito Virus, the virus causes Auto-Reivs to become self-aware. Due to the outbreak of the virus Romdeau social order starts to fall into ruin.

After researching the proxy’s rampage it Is shown that the proxy is chasing after an Immigrant citizen known as Vincent Law, this isn’t the first time Vincent is seen in close vicinity of a proxy. Why is Vincent Law always in close proximity of a proxy whenever it shows up.It’s highly possible that he is connected to the proxy in some way and what really is a Proxy? and why is the Romdea Government so desperate to capture and why is there a sudden outbreak of a virus strictly for Auto-Reivs.

Overview:

Ergo Proxy! There isn’t much that can I say about the series, the seires name alone is pretty cool though, but the Overall the series is really Frikkin Amazing I couldn’t believe how well executed it was and how MINDBLOWING the it Ending was, this sssshhhhite!!!  was SO WELL DONE ZOMG. The series was engaging straight from episode 1 to twenty-three and to be honest only true anime fans would sit down and patiently watch the series this isnt one of those Anime with fighting right through, it falls in the aspect of a Dystopian life in a apocalypse world and also shows us different aspects of the how people can be seen in an negative light due to how mankind treats its surroundings. Ergo Proxy is a mis-adventure (highly doubt they really wanted to travel the wasteland but it’s all about finding the truth) in a post-apocalyptic world which left me wanting more. I thought the artwork was a definite gem and I see no inconsistencies in it but I curse Funimation for not bringing out a Blu-Ray version up to now. The story was well done exquistly especially the way they tore layers of information off to explain how the world fall into devastation, It was done so brilliantly that it left dumbfounded :$. The OST was well done! and possibly one of the best (if not) Post-Apocalyptic OST i’ve ever heard  the way it provided the series with that unique eerie aura feeling that it needed to drive a STACK in my heart of remembrance! Vincent Law is one of the dual protagonists; he wasn’t likeable and that’s due to his bickering but I did get his plight though guess I’ll be a bit bitchy if I lost my memory as well, but his characterization was pretty nice so I did enjoy watching him and he didnt make me cringe like some other characters out there. Re-L Mayer is the other half of the dual protagonists, she’s a bitch in the earler episodes of  the series but thats due to her status as a “Princess” and as one she expects everything to go her way and everyone to give her respect however her encounter with Vincent Law changes everything . She grows on you later in the series (won’t tell you which episode :P) but she still has that annoying bitch vibe. In truth and in all honesty the AGENT OF DEATH was a frikkin great watch and I’d watch it again preferably on Blu-Ray so Funimation when the fuck is that gonna happen?

Overview:

Generator Gawl! The show wasnt all an inspiring anime to watch so if i was to  sum it up in a few words it’s pretty much an ok watch but nothing about it made it worth re-watching.  The Story didnt grasp my attention as most would so that was disappointing, some guys come from the future to save the world, The lead character has altered DNA and can whoop everyone ones ass thats pretty much the story in a nutshell and quite disappointing to be honest. I had high hopes for the series due to the action scenes I saw in a trailers trailers, but action alone couldnt entice me enough to enjoy it (SUCK ASS story!). The animation looks pretty kool and the consistency is nothing less than what I would expect of Tatsunoko when it comes to style and art work. The characters are the best thing about the series and are the only reason why the series isn’t a complete waste to watch. Gawl Kudo, the Lead character of the series the main ASS-KICKER of the series, he’s funny and is quite likable despite how things look to go down throughout the series but he does show his feelings in a simple way and I respected that.  The other characters were nice as well but not enough for me to have the series as a potential watch over! Ryuko Saito is the bitch Antagonist of the story and from the get go I suspected her to the main WHORE of the story and when It was revealed I wasn’t surprised so yeah I was RIGHT (once again), I could just tell buy the look in her eyes on how conniving and sinister she was. I didn’t care much for her throughout the series and kept wondering why the 3 guys just didn’t pick a fight with her and defeat her, BUT the last episode showed us why.  Overall the series isn’t much to talk about and it wouldn’t recommend you guys see it, it’s a definite miss.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

Nausicaa of the Valley Of the Wind (1984)

Running Time: 115 mins

Rated:  PG

Overview:

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, This film is one I’ll never forget and will always be on my tongue when I talk about Classic Anime Films. Nausicaa is the film that made Studio Ghibli such a powerhouse despite the movie coming out before Studio Ghibli was formed they have it listed as one of their productions. Hayao Miyazaki (Director and Writer) really did the World well when he made the film and I’m yet to hear someone state that this film is OVERHYPED and UNDERSERVING of its Credit. The Artwork is a Ground Basis for Studio Ghibli and with that being said the consistence is there (always will be!) and won’t be going away for decades to come. The music is very peaceful and really slowed paced for a Post-Apocalyptic film which was refreshing because i’m a bit tired of feeling depressed watching these things! The OST doesn’t make me feel any despair at all but only Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind HOPE whilst I was watching it. Nausicaa is the lead protagonist of the film(One of the Best out There), her character is the first female character I’ve seen that really strides for peaceful resolutions and one could hold her own in an actual fight, and THAT is what makes her stand out when you compare her to the other FEMALE characters. The Story is Original and very fulfilling to ANY/EVERYONE’s taste but this leads to my sole disappointment of the film is that it had to end (All good things come to an end)oh and the film was quite fluid :P. The movie is a one you could watch with your family so you don’t have to worry about not finding a good anime for the kiddies to watch :P. Overall I LOVE this film and will probably be re-watching AGAIN sometime in the near future.

Vampire Knight

Vampire Knight

Episodes: 1 – 13

Air Date: 8th / April / 2008

Summary:

Vampire Knight is a story about three individuals;Yuki Cross, Kaname Kuran and Zero Kiryu they all go to the same school, Cross Academy. Yuki Cross is the main character of the series. Yuki is a girl who doesn’t remember anything from her past; Yuki’s earliest memories are when she was attacked from a Vampire but is saved by Kaname Kuran another Vampire. Kaname takes Yuki to live with his friend called Kaien Cross a human. Kaien takes a liking to Yuki and adopts her. Kaname Kuran is the second Protagonist of VK and is a Pure Blood Vampire who saved Yuki whilst she was a little girl, as a pure blood he doesn’t have the urge to drink the blood as lower vampires do and commands an entourage who would do anything for him. The third Protagonist is Zero Kiryu; Zero witnessed the murder of his entire family from a Vampire and in the process of the attack he was bitten. After the attack Zero is taken into the home of the Cross’ and starts to live with both Yuki and Kaien. Kaien Cross is the Headmaster of Cross Academy. The school is divided into two classes The Day Class and Night Class. The Day class is full of humans while the Night Class is full of Vampires led by Kaname Kuran. Yuki and Zero act as body guards for the night class but in truth they protect the day class from the vampires so that they wouldn’t succumb to their thirst for human blood. As time goes on the bite that Zero got when he was young is slowly turning him into a Vampire a race he despises due to his family dying by the hands of one. Despite turning into a vampire he strongly fights against his urges to drink blood till one day he finally succumbs and attacks the nearest person to him Yuki. This doesn’t fair well for Zero because Kaname Kuran also has his eyes on Yuki Cross.

Overview:

Vampire Knight!!, Hmmmm not much is to be said about it from what I’ve watched and it seems like a teen drama for girls (the yaoi styled pretty boy art :(), the girls are cute but nothing I’m not familiar with. The Custom design for the series is well thought out which blends pretty cool with the gothic style storyline (Good Stuff from Matsuri Hino). They are some inconsistencies in the drawings for the series but nothing to make it look subpar and unpolished. The Gothic OST was OK to listen to but (yeah it didnt get my cookie to crumble) it’s well suited for the Gothic Theme of the story.  The series failed the 5 Episode Test and when you fail that test I normally stop watching but since I’m doing the BLOG now I gave it a second chance and watched the complete series. Yuki Cross is the main star of the season; she’s a Cute character to look at, she can fight a bit but she isnt bad ass and due to how slowly the series went I can tell that there’s more going on in the show than the 13 episodes. Kaname Kuran this is the secondary character of the show, He’s major cool and and too smooth for my liking but he’s my favourite character of this (not so loving) series he’s soft spoken, charismatic basically he’s what most guys want to be (doesnt even have any douchebag moments). Zero Kiryu is third lead character of the series; This 13 episode season revolves around him and his personal demons and shows us how he looks at the vampires. Personally I dont like him due to his bitter attitude (rightfully so, HTF would you react seeing your family slaughter by some Vampire C*** ?!?!?!) towards everyone. The supporting Cast dont do much for the series (more eye-candy for the ladies) so they really arent much to talk about except for Kaien Cross he’s the guy you want to see most of the series but wont :(. Vampire Knight as a story is quite original and is actually good in it’s own right but I personally dont like it that much, ill probably see the sequel series whenever im bored but i defintely will not rewatch the season. Overall I think this is a female anime series to check out due to the “Vampire Craze” that’s been going on and due to the story following a girl being chased by guys, it defintely is set out for a female audience.

Appleseed Ex-Machina

Appleseed Ex-Machina (2007)

Running Time:  105mins

Rated: PG13

Overview:

Overview:

Appleseed Ex-Machina!!!!!!!!, This is the sequel film to the Appleseed movie that was released in 2004. The sequel is really FRIKKIN awesome and was very satisfying to watch (well the second time around). The first time I saw Ex-Machina I wasn’t impressed by the film, I thought they just made the sequel to show off their animation skills, however the second time around that changed. The story was a lot stronger and better developed than the 2004 version (plus John Woo was involved which definitely sold it even more!). The CGI-illustration takes another Step Up the ladder with Ex-Machina which makes it look like a frikkin Gem (yeah we werent surpisred at all!) and yeah it’s still ORGASMIC EYE-CANDY! The OST isn’t as outstanding as the CGI looks in comparison to what they give you (from the first film) and how they deliver it but still good enough for me to remembrance of it (Opening TRACK again :P). Deunan Knute is the lead character again and she’s bad ass as ever (probably even more BAD ASS! 😛) not much to talk about this time around she’s still passionate as ever when it comes Briaroes (that man/machine lucky as hell). Briareos Hecatonchires returns as well this time he’s more complicated than ever (yeah the guy probably feels like a punching bag right about now) but as usual Deunan sticks to him like glue REGARDLESS of what he goes through. Tereus is new character brought in for the film, he looks like what Briareos did when he was human (messed up I know!!!!) and despite that he holds his own in a fight but that’s only due to Briareos’ DNA. In general I liked the dimension he brought as a character (showed us how Deunan and Briareous would look together!) and enjoyed the stubborness he showed early out in the film and all this being said from a who despised him the first time around WOW how ive matured! Haha ;). The movie leaves you with an open ending though (YEAH THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!) so in the near future I welcome a sequel to this awesome movie series! Overall the sequel is really good (better than the 04 movie :P).

Note:

I heard that there is going to be a TV Series (2011) but something completely different to the settings of either movie.
